EXPLORE TEACHING AREAS

PHOTOGRAPHY

See with intention. Create with light.

My photography teaching combines camera skills with careful observation and visual storytelling. Students learn to make deliberate choices about exposure, composition, and lighting while developing a personal approach to photographing people, places, and everyday subjects.

COURSES
Inside the Classroom

Students develop control of exposure and white balance while exploring composition through practical assignments. My lessons introduce the rule of thirds, leading lines, and frame within a frame, then connect those choices with portrait lighting and the use of flash.

Learning focus: Control exposure; adjust white balance; compose purposeful images; recognize and shape light; discuss photographic choices during critique.

Learning to Shape Light

I introduce portrait lighting through Rembrandt lighting before moving into two-point and three-point setups. Students practice using flash and adjusting the position of lights to observe changes in shadow, depth, and facial form. Through hands-on practice and critique, they connect lighting decisions with the mood and clarity of their portraits.
