Claflinverse is an ongoing creative research project exploring how a virtual campus can support orientation, learning, and connection. Through 3D models of Claflin University and interactive experiences, the project investigates new ways for students to explore campus spaces. Its development brings together digital design, student collaboration, and an interest in how virtual environments can complement the university experience.
I led Claflinverse as a collaborative semester-long project with my students, bringing Claflin University’s campus into an interactive virtual environment. Under my guidance, students modeled and textured 10 campus buildings in Autodesk Maya, closely referencing the architecture, materials, and details of the actual buildings. Together, we developed the surrounding environment to connect these individual models into a recognizable virtual campus.
We then brought the models into the Meta Horizon Worlds editor, assembling the campus and introducing interactive elements, including a basketball hoop game with a scoring system. I guided students through the transition from creating individual 3D assets to building a shared interactive experience. The project combined my interests in digital design and immersive learning while giving students practical experience in architectural modeling, texturing, collaboration, and virtual world development.
